It features soaring spires of ancient granite and includes about two miles of the cool, quick-running upper Sacramento River. Surrounded by primitive back country, the park is six miles south of Dunsmuir and about twenty-five miles north of Lake Shasta on Interstate 5. You will find yourself enjoying activities such as camping and picnicking, fishing, horse rides, and a variety of trails. Sisson MuseumLocated on the grounds of the Mt. Shasta Hatchery. This museum is the home of the world’s largest Raikes teddy bears. In the summer the Sisson Museum is open daily with the following exceptions throughout the year New Years, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. The summer hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and in the winter from Noon to 5 p.m. (1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays). The museum is closed in January and February for renovation. McCloud RailwayCome enjoy the one-hour train ride up the side of Mount Shasta to historic Signal Butte Switch-back on the Saturday afternoon excursion train rides and enjoy the view of northern California on a three-hour Saturday evening Shasta sunset dinner train ride.
